wood roof gutter cleaning project
Tackling a  wood roof gutter cleaning project in SW Portland we discovered vines growing throughout the system.  These vines cause the Fir tree needle debris to accumulate and back up the system.  They look great growing up the siding of the home but is causing some major over flowing issues.  It is necessary to cut them back to ensure the proper functioning of the gutter and downspout system.
We often discover wood roofs creating there own unique gutter muck.  I believe its caused by the algae run off creating a mud like muck that makes some pretty messy cleaning projects.   Another common problem with a wood shake roof is the gutter system catching small pieces of  the shakes that commonly float down and wedge in the downspout.   Usually a pretty simple but invasive fix removing the downspout and shaking it out.
