If rain water is pouring over the top of the gutters on your home, that is a sign that your downspout is clogged for that gutter section.  The clogs are typically an easy fix with no snaking involved.  The downspout hole inside the gutters are about 1.5 to 2 inches small on most and often its only a twig or leaf thats causing the gutters to back up.

There are those cases though, when a debris settles at the elbow causing a clog.  We use a high pressure garden hose attachment that feeds into the top of the downspout opening.  The water pressure is commonly enough to work the clog through.

Extremely bad clogs will involve removing the downspout from the home to remove the blockage or to snake the under ground pipes to clear them.  This method is a last resort.  Removing the straps that hold the downspout to the home can cause paint to chip or the metal straps bend.
